Effectively Advertising in the Credit Crunch recession

By now you’ve probably heard that horrible buzz phrase “Credit Crunch” – it’s the term coined by the idiots who worsened the whole affair. If you’ve read around, you’ll probably know that advertising in a recession is a good idea. Harvard business school reckon spending more than before is wise, however we don’t all have the luxury of a budget that will accommodate this. So what can be done to increase your advertising exposure without breaking the already weakened bank balance?

Target the demographic you’re aiming for

There is absolutely no point advertising your product to somebody who is never going to buy it. So target the people you are going to make sales to, don’t waste money scatter-bomb advertising.

Pay Per Click

If your website is good enough you could originate sales from the internet. Pay per click advertising such as Google adwords means, when combined with a decent description that you only pay for people who have actively shown an interest. That’s a hot lead.

Write your website properly

Using PPC you can get hits from people who genuinely WANT to be on your website. A bad website that is badly written will waste your PPC money and your visitor’s time. Write your website properly, consider using good information architecture techniques, or have a good web designer take a look at your site’s design.

Freebies

Turn tweets in to sales, make a facebook page, go and talk to people, joing the 4Newtowrking forums - these are all fantastic ways to spread the word.
